By Brooke: The Best Massages on the Main Line

I'm writing this post out of pure convenience—for both of us. Of all the questions I get, one comes up more than any other: "Where do you recommend for a massage?" Instead of typing out the same answer over and over, I figured it was time to create a resource I can send the next time someone asks.

And believe it or not, the answer isn't as straightforward as you might think. The best massage depends entirely on what you're looking for. Are you trying to heal an injury? Recover from a hard workout? Relax? Improve mobility? Support your body's natural detox process? I have a different therapist I trust for each of these goals.

They're all incredibly talented, knowledgeable and effective at what they do. And while sharing their names might make it a little harder for me to book my own appointments, I genuinely love connecting you all with great practitioners.

So let's start with the person I call on most often.

Sports Massage with Sarah Sall in Villanova.

Sarah is one of the few people designated as a favorite in my phone—the modern-day version of speed dial—because she's the first person I call whenever I'm dealing with an ache, pain or sports-related injury (which, admittedly, happens more often than I'd like). A session or two with Sarah always gets me back to feeling like myself—or well on my way.

She has every tool needed to treat sports injuries and aid in recovery, but her studio doesn't feel clinical. Instead, it has the calming, zen-like atmosphere of a spa, making every appointment as relaxing as it is therapeutic. That's why I recommend Sarah not only for injury treatment, but also for anyone looking for an exceptional therapeutic massage. Whether you're recovering from an injury, training for a race, hoping to improve mobility, looking to speed up recovery, or simply craving an hour to completely unwind, Sarah is the person to see.

Sarah's expertise is backed by more than two decades of experience. Before joining Core Clinic in Villanova, she spent a decade traveling the world as the official massage therapist for the USA Rugby Men's National Team. During that time, she worked with the team at the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups and the 2016 Olympic Games. She also treats several local professional athletes, so it's safe to say that Sarah knows a thing or two about helping high-performance bodies perform and recover at their best.

As impressive as her résumé is, it's her enjoyable demeanor that keeps me coming back. Sarah has an incredibly calming presence. She'll happily chat throughout your session if that's your style (it usually is mine), but her kind nature instantly puts you at ease. I genuinely can't imagine anyone leaving an appointment with anything but glowing things to say, which is exactly why I recommend Sarah so enthusiastically.

You can book a 30, 45, 60 or 90 minute massage with Sarah and every treatment is customized to what your body needs that day. Depending on your goals, your session may include dynamic cupping, muscle scraping, red light therapy or Kinesio taping. If you're curious what those therapies look like, head over to my Instagram for a behind-the-scenes look.

Body & Soul Healing with Dora Flores in Paoli.

If you're looking for a massage that leaves you feeling transformed—both physically and spiritually—I can't recommend the Body & Soul Healing treatment with Dora at Wildflower Wellness enough.

Located in Paoli, Wildflower Wellness is one of the area's most charming boutique spas, and the treatment rooms are part of the experience. Tucked at the end of the second-floor hallway, Dora's serene space immediately sets the tone for deep relaxation. The spa offers a variety of massage, reiki and reflexology services with several talented practitioners, but Dora's Body & Soul Healing treatment is truly one of a kind. I've never experienced another massage that feels so deeply personalized or addresses both the body and mind so thoughtfully.

No two sessions are ever the same. While every treatment includes a therapeutic massage, Dora also draws from her training in energy healing, Thai massage, sound healing, yoga and other holistic techniques based on what you need that day. Sometimes it even feels like part-massage, part-therapy session.

Every appointment begins with a conversation—not just about your physical aches and pains, but also about your emotional and spiritual well-being. How is your body feeling? What's weighing on you mentally or emotionally? Dora uses those insights to shape the entire experience. One visit, I arrived feeling emotionally drained and overwhelmed, so she incorporated somatic shaking to help release built-up tension. Another time, I was dealing with tummy discomfort, and she focused part of the session on abdominal massage. In both cases, I walked away feeling noticeably better.

As much as I appreciate Dora's intuitive healing techniques, the massage itself is exceptional. My perpetually overworked body always benefits from her therapeutic touch, but it's the combination of physical bodywork and holistic healing that is so special. I leave every session feeling lighter, calmer and more grounded than when I arrived.

For an extra wellness boost, Wildflower Wellness also offers red light therapy and sauna sessions downstairs that can be added before or after any treatment and pairs great with a message.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage with Aline Rivera in West Chester.

Over the past year, one of the questions I’ve been asked most is where to get a great lymphatic drainage massage. I get it. You guys want the detox, the de-bloat and the results. That’s why I was so excited to find (or maybe she found me!) Aline Rivera, who specializes in Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage.

Before seeing Aline, I had experienced several traditional lymphatic drainage massages. But Brazilian lymphatic drainage completely changed my perspective because of one major difference: immediate, visible results. Unlike traditional techniques that rely on very light strokes, the Brazilian method uses firmer, sculpting movements designed to stimulate lymphatic flow while instantly reducing bloating, contouring the body and smoothing the appearance of cellulite.

Every time I leave Aline’s table, I feel lighter, more energized and noticeably less swollen—especially through my waist and lower body. Every. Single. Time. Those consistent results are why I keep coming back (and why she frequently makes an appearance on my Instagram). In fact, I never head out on vacation or to a special event without booking an appointment with Aline first.

Beyond the visible transformation, I also find the Brazilian technique much more relaxing than traditional lymphatic drainage. The pressure is closer to a Swedish massage, making it feel more soothing while still targeting the lymphatic system (right below the skin) rather than the muscles.

One of Aline’s signature techniques combines guided breathing with targeted massage to sculpt the waistline. It’s definitely unconventional and can be a little uncomfortable, but it works. She incorporates it twice during the treatment: once near the beginning and again at the end, delivering a noticeably more defined waist at the end of every massage.

A standard session lasts 75–80 minutes, and I highly recommend adding the Brazilian Clay Mask to further detoxify and nourish the skin while enhancing the sculpting effects. Another favorite is the Detox Inside Out treatment, which combines Brazilian lymphatic drainage with additional detoxifying techniques. I stepped on the scale immediately before and after this two-hour detox session and was down four pounds at the end! Yeah, I had the exact same reaction!
