It’s Almost June and You Know What That Means

In about a week, I will start my 5th “Studio Tour.” What began in 2021 as a way to see what gyms and studios were doing as they reopened their doors post-pandemic has now turned into a big part of Fitness Finds on the Main Line.

For those unfamiliar with my June Studio Tour, each June 1st I embark on a little fitness adventure: I visit 30 gyms and studios, take 30 different classes, and share it all in 30 Instagram posts. It’s my own version of a marathon. (And by June 30th, I’m always relieved that the month doesn’t have 31 days!)

Each May, as I prepare my schedule for the upcoming month, I waver on the idea of doing yet another June Studio Tour. The month takes its toll on my family, as their mom/wife spends 30 days running all over the Philadelphia area during an already busy time of year. But as hard as it can be on my body—and everyone around me—what I get out of each June Studio Tour far outweighs the challenges of committing to 30 consecutive workouts in June.

This invaluable experience allows me to visit so many places in a condensed period of time, take a wide variety of classes, and, most importantly, meet so many people in the local fitness world—both instructors and fellow gym-goers.

Three years ago, when my family and I decided to spend a week at the shore in June, I took the tour on the road. Since then, my June Studio Tour has followed the same schedule each year: a week on the Main Line, a week in Center City Philadelphia, a week at the shore, and a week touring the Philadelphia suburbs. This format allows me to explore each neighborhood that makes up our area, including the always-popular Jersey Shore.

So for this fifth year of touring the area’s best fitness spots, I wanted to bring you guys with me to kick off the tour (and to close out the tour, as well — but that information will come later).

This year, I want you all to join me. So I spoke to the owner of one of my favorite studios, HiLo House, and asked her to run a special class. HiLo House is one of those unique boutique studios that recently expanded with a second location, now in Media. The workout is something different, and I love having the opportunity to introduce people to it.

The “Hi” of HiLo is the VersaClimber, a low-impact cardio machine that mimics the motion of climbing. It delivers a full-body workout and is excellent for a high-calorie burn and conditioning workout. Most people have never used one of these machines, so this class will be a great opportunity to show more people a completely different way to exercise.

The “Lo” of HiLo is the Lagree Mega Pro, the latest and greatest in Lagree Megaformers. While it may look like a Pilates reformer, the Lagree Megaformer is definitely not Pilates. The machine uses pulleys like a reformer, but it’s designed for an intense, strength-building workout. The Lagree Megaformer may also resemble the more widely known Solidcore machine, but Solidcore actually uses a knockoff version of Lagree. And in my opinion, the Lagree machine and workout are infinitely better.

I cannot wait to show more people this effective and incredibly challenging workout. So on June 1 at 10:30 am, we will be holding two classes at the same time at HiLo House in Media. Using THIS LINK, please secure your free spot — you can opt for the “cardio” first, or the “full body” (which is the Lagree) first. And after 25 minutes, we will switch, so that everyone can experience both the Hi and the Lo of HiLo House.

Don’t worry, after all of that sweating, I won’t let you leave hungry! The Juice Pod will be providing salads, drinks and treats to fuel your body after an intense workout. And you’ll also get a coupon to try my exclusive Fitness Finds Fuel Smoothie at The Juice Pod in Newtown Square all month long. I know I’ll be grabbing plenty of those smoothies to keep me fueled during the next 30 days!

So grab a spot now and I cannot wait to sweat with you all on June 1st!
